About Me

Born in the Dominican Republic, raised in the Bronx, NY. Humberto was originally drafted by the LA Dodgers but opted to attend college. Signed with the Detroit Tigers in 2002 after achieving All-American honors at Connors State College in Warner, OK. Humberto was traded to his hometown NY Yankees after the 2006 season for Gary Sheffield. After overcoming injuries and a couple of surgeries Humberto went on to make his MLB debut Sept. 18, 2008 versus the Chicago White Sox. Following 2 years of MLB service, Sanchez took his game overseas with stops in Taiwan, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic amongst others. After the 2013 season Humberto retired and began coaching. Served as a Pitching Coach for two years at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL where he would coach several MLB draft picks and future high level college players. From 2018-2022 Humberto was a pitching coach in the Boston Red Sox organization. Humberto makes his home in Indianapolis and is married to Nathalie Aquino with whom he shares 2 daughters Emma and Liv.
