

PRO X VELOCITY
The Pro X Velocity program is created by veteran Major League Baseball pitcher, Joe Thatcher along with his off-season Trainer and Physical Therapist, Dr. Jamey Gordon.
Joe’s passion for development, sustained health, and long term success, defined his approach in creating an unmatched medical and baseball staff.
Using Dr. Gordon’s scientific approach along with Joe’s applied high-level pitching knowledge and experience, this unique program was created to improve arm strength for baseball players of all positions and skill.
Unlike other velocity programs, Pro X Velocity classes are designed for all positions with an overarching emphasis on maintaining arm health and sustained improvement with a long term focus.
FALL VELOCITY
FALL VELOCITY
The Fall Velocity Program consists of developmental phases similar in timing and intensity as that of professional baseball players in their off-seasons. The Fall phase from September 30th to November 30th provides the foundation to velocity improvements that will be apparent in March. This phase consists of weight training specific to the ages and movement quality of the individual athletes and progresses to full body power training. Getting stronger, more mobile, and more powerful as a throwing athlete is the primary focus of this phase and will be built upon in the subsequent phases of the Pro X Velocity Program.

WINTER VELOCITY
WINTER VELOCITY
The Winter Velocity Program begins in December and will serve as the transition from the foundational strength phase in the Fall to using that strength to develop full body power movements that will create increased velocity. December also serves as the ramp up period for throwing. This period of throwing will focus on throwing technique and gradual increase in throwing tolerance. Again, arm health AND performance are our goals, and we take a gradual, progressive phase of throwing before increasing intensity and volume – which is crucial for injury prevention.
Progressing into January, throwing intensity increases and workouts become more refined to velocity-specific movements. Long toss, throwing mechanics, weighted balls will be used in the program – but under strict guidance and in a safe and guided environment. Each athlete will have their own prescription for velocity development with injury prevention with developing velocity as the primary goal.
